Ron Magers Arrives
The Twin Cities television news market entered a new era of intense competition on February 11, 1974, when Ron Magers took over the top anchor slot at KSTP. Magers soon propelled KSTP’s Eyewitness News to number one in the market, surpassing WCCO’s venerable Dave Moore-led newscast. Magers was the face of KSTP until 1981, when he left for WMAQ-TV in Chicago. He now works as weeknight anchor at Chicago’s WLS-TV. He’s the brother of former KARE news anchor Paul Magers.
Here’s a collection of great old promos, via TCMediaNow, heralding Magers’s arrival at KSTP.
